A double act presented by Iran and Pakistan
On Tuesday (1/16, 2024), Iran bombed an armed group in Panjgur town of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Iran said it targeted the Iranian “terrorist” group it blamed for recent attacks in the Iranian city of Rask in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.
As a “revenge”, Pakistan bombed hideouts of armed groups in the Sistan-Baluchestan province of Iran early on Thursday (1/18, 2024).
Both countries’ foreign ministries released statements to say they respected the other’s territorial integrity but took measures to safeguard their national security.
The Iranian attack came hours after Iran and Pakistan held a joint naval exercise, and the two countries’ foreign ministers spoke in Davos on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum[1].
